MEDIA RELEASE: Muslim civil rights group condemns attacks in Bali

SYDNEY, 2 October 2005 -- The Australian Muslim Civil Rights Advocacy Network (AMCRAN) joins other Muslim groups in strongly denouncing and condemning the second Bali bombings that occurred on October 1.

All members of AMCRAN express condemnation of the attack, describing them as barbaric.

"We extend our condolences to the victims and their families, and we support the authorities in their pursuit of bringing those responsible before the law," said AMCRAN co-convener Agnes Chong.

"Such actions are inconsistent with secular, democractic, and religious principles, including Islamic principles. There is a consensus of Islamic scholars on this issue. All peoples have a right to be free from such senseless acts of murder."
