Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC) & Australian Muslim Civil Rights Advocacy Network (AMCRAN) proudly present:
Protecting Human Rights in Australia
Do you work within or support Muslim Communities? Is it legal in Australia for someone to say “all Muslims should be killed”? Can a Muslim be sacked because their need to pray is disruptive? How well are human rights protected in Australia? What do human rights mean in your community and in your work?
The Protecting Human Rights in Australia training program is designed to provide people with knowledge and skills to conduct human rights training in their sector, organisations and communities. This training program run by the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC), one of Australia’s leading non-government organisations, addresses these issues. It is based on a successful community education kit prepared by PIAC.
Jane Stratton, Policy Officer, PIAC will conduct the training. Jane has extensive experience in human rights and holds a Masters of Laws in the area from New York University.
Who should attend the training? The training is designed for workers who run training in organisations or communities across a broad range of issues. Individuals interested in attending are also welcome. However, preference will be given to attendees who can conduct training with at least 20 people within their organisations, communities or amongst their constituents. The training is only likely to go ahead if there are more than 20 attendees, so please let us know if you would like to attend and spread the word!
